I just received this book. From what I've seen, I like the layout of this book and the beautiful photos. I like the way each column has a "recommended uses" paragraph. But this is also the reason I gave it four stars because on page 117 I was hanging on every word as I was reading about Dioon edule, when the sentence just abruptly ends in the middle and doesn't continue anywhere else. Just to make sure I'm not missing a continuation paragraph, I went to the Index and looked under "Dioon" and only found Dioon spinulosum. Dioon edule was only listed under its common name, virgin palm. I might have had the luck to find the only two formatting glitches in this book at first glance, I don't know. But I'm glad I bought it, as I am a pretty big fan of palms.

Covers just about every variety, care, zones, planting guides, etc.

I grow Palm Trees on Guam in the tropics and there are many helpful Palm Tree boks, but this one has a step by step photo lay out of how to go about things.

this is a good introduction book for those just getting into palms. If you are looking for more detailed information on a specific type of palm or how to care for it this won't help much with that - but it can point you in the right direction as far as general care for it.

Excellent book with color pictures that aid identification and no advertising. Gives me exactly the info I needed for soil deficiencies
