I rarely do reviews as I'm not very good at writing them, but this book deserves another five star review. It sounds totally crazy, MPREG, aliens, MMF, a reality show set in a Supa-Mart, but honestly, it all works and I was completely sucked in. I have never read an MPREG book before as it just sounded silly to me, but when I heard that one of my favorite authors had written one, I had to give it a shot. And it worked. I always thought that MPREG was another way of not having women characters (a pet peeve, even when I read MM I like for there to be good women characters at least in the background), but in this book that isn't the case at all. Because Zoe, the main female, is awesome. I also don't generall read menages, but again, it works here.Others have already posted about the story line, so I'll just say that it was a terrific space romp set in a big box store with wonderful characters that made me love them. I get bored of women in romances who need saving and Zoe was a perfect heroine for me; although she needed some saving, she also saved a lot of others. And the guys were strong and full of feelings and bravery. The background characters were also fleshed out nicely and I enjoyed them as well.I've only read this author's MM books, but now I'll need to look into the rest of her catalouge. This was just a really fun read. Well written, strong story, fantastic characters, and a good wrap up.

This novel was so different from any other I have read thus far. I loved the concept of aliens being hooked on reality TV and the lengths that were taken to create their own version. The relationships between Zoe, Rowe and Kai were were cute and the unexpected aspect of perds and their personalities was comical. The anatomical differences between humans and Tantulans was depicted well. I thought the main detractions were that the world building and development of ancillary characters felt only partially developed. That being said, it is hoped a sequel is being considered.

BE does it again. She wrote a wonderfully exciting story with beautiful and sweet characters. I couldn't put the book down, I read it in one day and It's a 20-something chapter book. I won't give away any of the plot details but it is worth every penny you spend on it. (She even made male pregnancy seem totally normal and okay....which is just really weird :). )

This is an inventive sci-fi ish m/f/m story with just enough tension to keep the plot moving. The characters are interesting and enjoyable

Zoe, being one who never gets into trouble, never takes risks or strays outside the norm, decides to have one last hurrah and books a trip to a tropical paradise for Christmas. She plans to relax on the beach, soak up some sun and possibly have one last fling before she dies. Finding at the last minute that she doesn’t have anything to read on the plane she runs out to her local Supa-Mart to pick up a trashy romance novel at three o’clock in the morning. Just a quick in and out and she’ll be back at home ready to leave for her trip.Yeah, right.Enter Kai and Rowe. They’ve been best friends since they were kids. Consummate party boys. Rowe is a big wig and Kai is his right hand man. Oh, and they’re also aliens. They’ve been sent by their producer to ‘play human’ in the newest reality show that has been sweeping their planet. But they have each been harboring a secret love for the other. Will Kai ever tell Rowe that he secretly wants in his pants but was afraid he was beneath Rowe’s station so he never tried? Will Rowe ever tell Kai that he’s been secretly in love with him since they were just boys? Stay tuned to find out.This book was chock full of delightful surprises. Seeing as how I’ve loved other books by Ms. Elsborg I expected to enjoy this one as well. What I didn’t expect to get was a book that might as well have been titled ‘Written Exclusively for Jenni Lea’. It had everything I like in a book. EVERYTHING. I had such a huge grin on my face the entire time I was reading - even during the girl parts! Because let me just tell you, even though I had to endure reading about girly bits Ms. Elsborg more than made up for it with the anatomy lessons. I mean, the things those aliens can do with their… MA GAWD!This is such a fun story! It’s an easy and enjoyable read. There’s action, adventure, and quite a bit of humor as well. It also has the most creative form of ‘knotting’ I’ve ever read. Plus! It has the one thing I love more than knotting. Can you guess what that is?For those of you who are worried this is not a true MMF, worry no more. While it is quite heavy on the female parts, there’s tons of hot man on man lovin’. Barbara did not disappoint!So, take a chance on this one. Don’t let those girl parts scare you off. You’ll miss out on a fun and exciting story if you do.Highly recommend.

As the alarmed locals speculate on whether they are in a sinkhole or a reality show, the two guys know that they are actually on a spacecraft.Zoe has only a few months to live due to a medical condition and her first priority is the medical stores available. After that is secured she starts thinking that enjoying herself with a stranger might be a good way to spend her last days, especially if they are going to run out of air or food in here. She comes across as a strong individual.I really liked the way the group adapts and comes up with practical ideas, then goes so far as make a Christmas Day for themselves. As this is a romance we go along with Zoe having a fling with one of the off-Earth guys, but when she finds out that he's not quite as we'd expect, it does seem odd that a threesome suggests itself.So this is quite unpredictable and fun and the title Taking Stock is cleverly used. Anyone who can cope with all the adult romance action in the second half, and likes an unusual SF read, will enjoy this tale greatly.

Why would you write a book about symbols and have little to no illustrations? I was so disappointed because the writing is decent, but by the third time I had to go to the internet to guess at the symbol being discussed, I was through.

Very, very interesting. This allowed me to write my major composition essay from a much different point of view than I originally would have. I appreciate the constant knowledge it lends even outside of school work.

I had to give it a 4 star rating not because of the lack of information but as it describe each symbol it had no picture, however it's a great book.

I have been using this for years and recently have lost track of my original hardback edition. I bought two, one for my stepson who made the comment recently that he wished he had a copy.This is so much more than one of those this is what the symbol means, this provides true semiotic description and analysis often with historical context. Excellent tool for writers and close readers or people just interested in signs and symbols.

This book is not only fascinating, but highly valuable! I am a director, acting coach and teacher. Research is required. When exploring dramatic texts, this book is one of the best references I have come across. Beyond its practical use, however, it is also a pleasure to pick up and scan for interesting information. It brings depth of understanding to the world we live in. It is a gem!

Overall I felt this book was alright but not as stellar as previous books by Mike Meyers. Initially I was delighted that this book was on my required course reading material as I bought upgrading and repairing PC's from Mike when I was younger to learn how to build a PC and really enjoyed the book and how detailed and thoughtfully laid out it was (even giving you history lessons) which made me laugh and oh and ah with interest. This book however, I feel is rather subpar in comparison. It seems to include most of the critical stuff you need to know but that's about it. No history lessons (which I enjoy) and no additional really nitty gritty detailed information on the how, when, where, and most importantly why with only a sprinkle of occasional humor to help. It certainly didn't resonate with me like my older book from him and I honestly remember very little from the book sadly enough which wasn't the case with upgrading and repairing in which I ended up reading it 4 times cover to cover just because it was fun and I learned new things I thought I had missed previously. This book doesn't do that, nor did it make learning networking as much fun or a neat history lesson like it could have which I missed. It was also super light on the humor and wasn't the most helpful on demystifying complex or convoluted concepts in networking. In fact I found some of these "explanations" extremely hard to follow, confusing, and vague (very uncharacteristic of Mike) and actually ended up having to turn to other resources for explanations and answers or more concise answers. Other parts of the book seemed to me to be entirely too winded for simple things or unnecessarily long as were a few chapters with no actually helpful elements, history or fun jokes to justify the added length.Overall I think this book needs re-worked and Mike needs to bring back his old flair which made me really enjoy previous books of his.

Outstanding book, easy to read, and I must say, almost entertaining. I hate to read manuals, and I usually go for the "Dummies" and/or "Idiots" books for knowledge. This book is great. The layout and content is what I like. I did borrow one of Mike Meyers' books (Guide toPC Troubleshooting) from my local library and liked it, so I bought this. I had also borrowed another author's book on the same networks subject and could not keep myself awake while reading it. Not a problem with this one.

I found this guide (and the lab manual that I also purchased previously) are a great help to me. You are not just reading and memorizing, you are getting practical, hands-on applications, quizzes, etc.....and the most wonderful "COLOR-FILLED" pictures. This book is much better than the previous study guide I purchased because all of the photos and illustrations were in black & white. In the black & white book you could not discern the differences between any of the expansion cards inside the system unit. I do not have an extra computer lying around that I can practice on and now I do not need one. The colors in this book are so vivid that its like opening up the case. Actually, the book is better because I do not have to worry about "ESD" damage when I touch the components in the book. But be careful, this book is Electrifying!! Information is good. Can't get answers to end of chapter tests so unless you have access to an instructor that is registered with this product, good luck. Mike Meyers will not respond to emails

Ehhhh. I've determined networking bores the ever living crud out of me. Book is ok, required for a class I'm taking. It has a digital version on the CD. It will get me through the class just fine, but I will definitely not be going into networking. Zzzzzzzz.

Given that, unlike many frustrating classes where your $200 book ends up being a $200 paperweight, the class I took was centered on this book, it was extraordinarily useful. The chapters are fairly short and concise, the vocabulary easy to find and understand, and overall, it made what could have been a very tedious class into a much more bearable one. I don't know how well it is for actually getting your Network+ but I was able to answer questions that were gathered directly from the Network+ test on our exams without having to use any outside resource. The book came with a disc that has a PDF file which I loved using.Has very clean text and pictures that keeps learning fresh and not stale.

Lots of examples of privacy violations and cyber shaming. But it’s a bit outdated, nothing is newer than 2007 or 2008 and some people today have not heard of the social media sites discussed in here.

Once I started The Future of Reputation, I could not put it down. The book brings alive how online gossip, social networking sites, and blogs increasingly define who we are and how were are perceived in today's Information Age. The stories it tells are, at once, laugh-out-loud funny and terrifying. We see the lives of others distorted by vengeful ex-lovers and mocked by teachers. Online commentators shine light on bad behavior to shame people. Our reputations are out of our control.What I loved about this book is that it asks us to rethink assumptions about how we define ourselves in an age where search engines tell our story to future employers and old high-school classmates. The book helped me appreciate that online shaming plays a new and perhaps important role in shaping behavior but also has serious costs. It offers thoughtful suggestions for what we can do about these problems without sacrificing so much of what is liberating about our online interactions. This is a must read for anyone who is interested in living a full and informed life in the Internet age.

A required bit of reading for a class, the book is actually quite engrossing in how computers and society intermix..

Solove's book doesn't provide answers, rather it provides situations that help you ask the right questions.As an extra bonus it is extremely well written and an enjoyable read.

Very approachable overview of the intersection of the internet (especially blogs and social media) with the law, and of privacy law and free speech law with each other. Written by an eminent law professor, the book is concise and clear, and reads like an extended lecture and/or a straightforward law review article. It is easy to digest but is not really a pop read. I am stunned by how timely this book feels despite having been written about 8 years ago, even more surprising considering it was discussing the landscape of a fast evolving subject area (namely, internet and its intermeshing with social life). Excellent exploration of ways in which we might balance the needs of free speech against the needs of privacy and would love to see Professor Solove update the book with more recent developments, his thoughts on the current landscape, and an evaluation of how courts have treated people's rights vis a vis the internet.

I've become a huge advocate of the role that "social media" can play in creating participatory environments within communities and local governments, however I've rarely taken a step back to look at the privacy implications of the rapidly emerging "Gov 2.0". Technology advocates (such as myself) tend to push a system where people dump their ideas, feelings, and misgivings about their communities into an online environment, but is there ever a moment where we stop and think about how we might be asking people to incrementally give up their privacy? Each piece of information, each opinion, each comment allows potential onlookers to gain more insight into our private lives. In The Future of Reputation author Daniel Solove takes a broad look at privacy on the internet and the consequences of what can happen when information intended toward one audience ends up in the wrong hands. In the midst of this information rich society, it seems that there are a greater number of people that consider their own knowledge on a subject to have reached a level suitable to critique the opinions of others. In fact with many Web 2.0 technologies, the open dissection and criticism of ideas is not only possible but in many ways highly encouraged. We freely post comments on blogs, we share information on Twitter with our own insightful twist, we quip about articles sarcastically on Facebook, and in so many other ways we no longer allow a fear of our own lack of knowledge to hold back our opinion. Solove explores the ways in which these information exchanges, criticisms, and comments function and how they diverge from our methods of communicating outside the internet.The Future of Reputation dives into the many psychologies present on the internet and how they can allow us more freedom to express ourselves while at the same time creating a stronger responsibility to protect the reputations, agency, and autonomies of our fellow humans. What are the repercussions for those individuals that we ask to make their opinions known about a particular topic? Is there anyway to protect them from any acts of retribution carried out by an employer that might not agree? Are there any true guarantees to privacy in our electronic era where all of our demographic information (and perhaps much more revealing personal information) is only a click away? While the law is still fuzzy with regards to privacy via the interent, Solove lays out the ethical and moral imperatives of how we communicate. The book examines what information we are publicizing about ourselves and shows how it could be used against us. Most importantly, Solove makes the reader stop and consider their own actions from the perspective of the people they are talking about.

Jeremy Kho has really hit the nail on the head with The Journey from Poor Procrastinator to Invested Millenial. I used to be like this, maybe I still am but this book has definitely been a turning point. It was exactly like the bio describes, and all throughout I kept thinking "Damn! Yes this is exactly ME!!" I was very high on 'chilling' till the last minute and then making a dash for it - bills, taxes, groceries - and then spending a lot in terms of 'late fees'. I even used to put off shopping till the last minute, then miss all the sales, and pay almost twice what things were worth.I like this book because it's straightforward, but also because it puts all the facts kindly. I never once felt cornered or blamed; instead I felt like accepting my own traits and making better decisions. And actually, I have managed to save a lot more money in these past few weeks than I had in months! It has really been a wonderful transition because honestly, it did not feel like tough going or hard work at all!

Are you a financial procrastinator? Are you Reactive or Proactive with your money? Given the financial straits our younger generations find themselves in these days, this seems like a book that should be given to most if not all who are struggling from money problems. Or even just those that have bought into the whole, “I need debt to survive in this world”. One thing that was extremely different is that this book will tell you what will happen if you do not stop procrastinating with your finances. In detail he gives us examples of what will happen if we do not manage our money correctly. Then he moves on to explain the traits that invested millennials have and how they achieve/foster those traits. The book explains much, giving examples for those that may not be able to visualize different advice and knowledge. Don’t be intimidated by investing, or cleaning up your own financial mess, I think this book can help give insights that you may not be thinking of and help you make little adjustments that end up being huge in the long run.

I love investment and savings books, and I feel like this one is a great one for millennials.. However, without getting too personal, I believe that this is definitely a book for younger millennials who don’t realize the value of money and who feel that they always have a second chance if they mess up on the first. As an early millennial, which I will take no identification to, I can see how kids now don’t really understand what is going on monetarily and there is so much spent on trying to keep up with the latest trends.Kho breaks it down in a way that gives realistic tips and speaks to a young person on the level that they understand. Speaking about how the decisions they make now can impact the future is definitely an eye-opener and the strategies suggested are not over the top or out of reach.While I don’t specifically identify with this book, I did get a few tips and I will definitely be sharing it with some of my younger siblings and friends. Great read and the author absolutely knows how to speak to his audience!

Unlike many other books out there written to motivate and inform millennials what they are doing wrong by Gen X (or worse, Baby Boomers). Written in an easy-to-read style, this book is geared towards those with little to no experience in investing. It addresses some of the difficulties millennials face with regards to saving money, such as the existence of other financial obstacles (such as student loans, immediate gratification, and not having enough for living expenses) and has very practical application potential. The author uses a lot of examples throughout the book to illustrate poor v good financial planning. Most importantly, he makes financial stability and investment not only seem important, but attainable. The only issue with this book was a couple places, like in Chapter 16 there are only 4 steps listed when the book indicates there will be 5 steps to help “start producing, stop consuming”. The 4 listed were actionable and helpful, but I kept wondering where 5 ran off to and if I was missing something I needed. Overall, there were lots of good strategies and it was written with a positive attitude. There were a lot of actionable steps and information in every chapter to help make sense of things like your FIN and passive income potential.

Somewhat helpful overview. I'm a graduate student taking an exam in folklore without much coursework to prepare me, and I found this useful for helping me pull together the concepts I was reading about in other places. At the same time, it provides lots of examples, and yet not in enough depth that I would cite this source for those examples. Since you'll need to do research on examples anyway, it might make more sense to wade through Toelken's The Dynamics of Folklore or check out Lynne McNeill's Folklore Rules.

Its a great book, I love to keep reading it.

This textbook was not intended for undergraduate level courses. It is used primarily at the graduate level. Specifically, it might be assigned for the first course of an M.A. program in Folklore.

I use this text in an upper-level undergrad English course on folklore, and the students seem to understand the material quite well. I am there to help them work through the more difficult concepts. I wouldn't automatically rule it out for a junior/senior level class.
